An Early Spring Senior Session with Cassandra . . .

•March 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I rarely do outdoor senior portrait sessions in March because of the unpredictable weather this time of year. With a bit of fortune, I was graced with a beautiful day and a beautiful subject. One of the sweetest girls I’ve had the pleasure of shooting, Cassandra had a great smile and personality. Check out some images from the shoot.

Sauvie Island in a Downpour . . . Is it Really Worth it Just to get out of the House?

•December 30, 2008 • Leave a Comment

The whole family (I should say Jack, Archie, the cats and I–Scott did manage to sneak work with chains on) have been cooped up in the house for the past week due to a major snow storm in the Portland area. We arrived home from visiting family in Southern Oregon on the Sunday before Christmas to find about 10 inches of snow blanketing the Willamette Valley from about Salem up. Needless to say, we ended up housebound for several days with a record 16 inches of snow. All that to say, Jack and I were desperate to get out, even if it meant braving a freezing downpour to head to Sauvie Island for the morning. Although we spent most of the time in the car, we did manage to catch a few breaks in the weather to take some pictures. Yes, yes, I know more pictures of Jack. He’s the one person I know (related or not) that willingly lets me take shot after shot of him in horrible weather conditions–plus I’m the boss of him. In all honesty, I think he likes it as he is a bit of ham sandwich as we like to say. So here are some pics of the ham sandwich.

_mg_9443-edit-edit-editHe was quite happy even though he was being pelted by wind and rain.

_mg_9462-edit-edit-edit-editI guess he liked the rain better. He eventually got over it.

What Else is there to Do on a Snowy Day . . .

•December 14, 2008 • Leave a Comment

It’s snowing outside and Jack and Scott have already spent some time pelting eachother with snowballs. So now the question remains, “what else is there to do?” I guess the answer is apparent in this post. We are generally snow starved here in the Portland area, so the camera comes out every time we see even trace amounts. Here are some pics of Jack.

One More Day and Taylor Would’ve had a Snow Session

•December 14, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I’m sitting here looking at the snow coming down and thinking, “this would have been cool for a senior session,” but then practicality sets in. We had a tough time deciding whether or not to postpone Taylor’s indoor/outdoor senior portrait session due to nasty weather, but Taylor was ready to take on anything to get some great outdoor shots. We started with few indoor shots and moved outside after about an hour. With frequent breaks sitting in a warm car and some green tea to help us along, we managed to eek out a pretty amazing outdoor session. Taylor was awesome and the pictures show it. Here are a few of my many favorites.

A Drizzly Senior Session with Alex

•December 8, 2008 • Leave a Comment

This time of the year in the northwest doesn’t usually lend itself to an outdoor portrait photography, but today, Alex and I braved the elements in order to eek out one last senior session for the year. The weather started out very cooperative–a bit gray, but no rain. About halfway through the session, it started to drizzle, but Alex and I persevered. I have to say, she was a trooper and awesome to work with. Take a look.

Sometimes there are Just those Babies . . .

•December 7, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Have you ever met a baby that is pretty much perfectly content with whatever your throw their way?  Meet Akayla. Not only is she adorable, but she pretty much goes with the flow all of the time. Ahhhh, it’s not just a rumor–they do exist. I had a great time talking with Akayla’s parents and snapping shot after shot of this beautiful little girl. I’m posting a few of my favorites.

A Post Preschool Jaunt to the Neighborhood Park

•December 5, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Looking outside at the beautiful sunny weather today, I was inspired. Finishing up some print packaging, I thought to myself, “it’s a perfect day to play outside.”  Fresh from the carpool, Jack appeared on the front steps to ring the doorbell at least 20 times and send Archie (our obnoxious dog) into a barking frenzy. I took my cue and we bundled up to head out to the neighborhood park. Somehow, Jack talked me into letting him take along a lollipop by insisting that it was “organic” and actually good for him.  Once outside, my enthusiasm soon faded as we both realized it was really, really cold. Needless to say, the two whimps only lasted about 30 minutes. I did manage to get some good shots of Jack in the process–as if I don’t take enough pictures of the child. Take a look (Jack still loves the red hat that he’s had since he was 12 months old).

A Fun Family Photo Session . . .

Yesterday, I met up with some friends for a family photo session at their home.  Who could ask for a more gorgeous set of twins to photograph? Here’s a few quick shots from my shoot with this beautiful family.
