Sauvie Island in a Downpour . . . Is it Really Worth it Just to get out of the House?
The whole family (I should say Jack, Archie, the cats and I–Scott did manage to sneak work with chains on) have been cooped up in the house for the past week due to a major snow storm in the Portland area. We arrived home from visiting family in Southern Oregon on the Sunday before Christmas to find about 10 inches of snow blanketing the Willamette Valley from about Salem up. Needless to say, we ended up housebound for several days with a record 16 inches of snow. All that to say, Jack and I were desperate to get out, even if it meant braving a freezing downpour to head to Sauvie Island for the morning. Although we spent most of the time in the car, we did manage to catch a few breaks in the weather to take some pictures. Yes, yes, I know more pictures of Jack. He’s the one person I know (related or not) that willingly lets me take shot after shot of him in horrible weather conditions–plus I’m the boss of him. In all honesty, I think he likes it as he is a bit of ham sandwich as we like to say. So here are some pics of the ham sandwich.
Oops, there goes the umbrella.
He was quite happy even though he was being pelted by wind and rain.
I guess he liked the rain better. He eventually got over it.

A little bit of attitude. I wish I could get him to stop being so shy in front of the camera.
